Troop 25 Celebrates 5 New Eagle Scouts
At the annual Court of Honor and Eagle Dinner on Wednesday June 7th at Saint Vincent's Parish Hall, Troop 25 awarded 5 young men the rank of Eagle Scout.  All 5 young men were Cub Scouts in Pack 25 since first grade and have been active members of Troop 25 since crossing over to boy scouts.

To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, these young men had to complete 21 merit badges, including the eagle required Camping, Cooking, Cycling, Hiking or Swimming, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Lifesaving or Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science or Sustainability, Family Life, First Aid, Personal Fitness and Personal Management.

The Eagle Scout Project is the culmination of the Scout's leadership training, and it requires a significant time and effort on the part of the scout. The project must benefit an organization other than the BSA. For his Eagle Scout project, Brian McGinn produced a video on bullying, and distributed it to local schools.  Brandon Porcelli organized a coat drive to benefit children who are served by the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF).  Paul Weeks rebuilt a wall that was falling down in Robinson Hall, the basement level of St. Vincent’s Church.  For his eagle scout project, Malachy Ryan produced a video on traumatic brain injury, and how today’s medical advancements are helping people with this kind of injury.  Robert Lee cleaned up an area of Liberty State Park, and planted new shrubs and flowers there, so that people could enjoy visiting the park.  All 5 projects represented substantial contributions to the community.
